A Ditch Called Set back by Mr Genero.
A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw
I have often witnessed people condemn themselves after an experience that claimed allot out of them; especially if the experience affects the acquisition of their goals, or slows down progress towards their dreams. We often put ourselves in a seat of self-pity in order to use sympathy as adrenalin to boost out confidence when we are knocked back.
From my limited experience in life, it is fair to state that if life unfolded with no challenges then we would have very little value for it. We as individuals have an intrinsic obligation to move forward towards our goals daily. As we live and grow, I have come to understand that time is the only resource and currency that we have to validate and redeem our dreams. The redemption of dreams transcends coupons at the grocery shop, but it requires daily exercise of developing and nurturing of the mind and in return, it will facilitate our dreams. So to have a goal in life is to constantly be on the move, constantly learning and constantly growing, educating ourselves about the very thing that will manifest our dreams. This clearly indicates that we as individuals must be on the move and not stagnant. However, it is the fact of life that every now and again, we will come across a ditch in the road. Regardless of how well we plan, there’s always going to be something that causes a set back for us.
Setbacks are occurrences that happen and slow down our progress in any particular aspects, they can serve as a delay to the project at hand. Setbacks are interesting, although many despise the idea of it, I have come to believe that it is very necessary to every dream. It can manifest in various ways, although setbacks causes a delay to the vision, they do not deny the vision.
You see, when chasing our dreams in life and we experience set backs, we must understand that these things happen to question how sure we are about our dreams. Through the experience, if we use self-pity to boost ourselves, we do ourselves much harm because sympathy weakens our ability to fight back. Your dreams will wait at the distant mountain top, staring down at you as you deal with your setbacks, if in the case that you give in and accept defeat, your dreams will grow wings and fly away screaming at the top of it's voice ‘you don't deserve me’. However, when we use setback to re-gather our mind and focus, your dreams wait at the distance with open arms.
Set back happens to teach us that who we are is crafted and built for impact through learning and observation. For every setback you experience, please believe that there is an impact waiting to be birthed, and knowledge waiting to be acquired, so rather than complain, we ought to learn from such and understand that re-evaluation is much needed to execute a stronger delivery. Set back helps to regain focus, it helps us bring our strength to life and activate our ability to learn and adapt. It's not about what life brings our way as setbacks because we adapt and deal with it. It's about what we bring to life, our gifts and dreams are seeds that lay lifeless as ideas to be birthed in the near future, and life is the platform where we bring them to life. Only you can bring your dreams to life, setbacks are just a test for how bad you want it.
A mind that triumphs is one that says, I will not spend a moment being a victim of setback, for in such lays no power to succeed. But I will press hard on this path, though the journey is hard and claims my strength, each step will bring me closer and closer to where my dreams reside.
Many people see set back as the end of the road. I say it is just a ditch in the road. Please note that it is better to move forward and experience set back than to not have moved at all and watch our abilities to move decay with fear. For set back breeds patience, patience breeds endurance, endurance breeds strength. Your set back only increases your ability to fight back even stronger. Learn and grow, you are stronger than you think.
One thing we must realize is this, setback is not failure, and even if we do fail, I was told that failure is fertilizer for the soul. It makes us moist for success. Failure is also an evidence of trial, although it's pauses progress for the moment, it's better than no progress at all. A setback causes us to pause, revise our plans, restructure our strategies, redirect our energy and re-fire with a sharper precision. Stagnation causes decay, if not careful setback can lead to stagnation.
Set backs make room for more hard work and our hard work leave prints for many to follow, our mistakes leave lessons for many to learn from, our heartbeat creates a melody that many dance to. We are the light-house that navigates the path to fruitful living, we press on strong regardless of setbacks, with our fist in the air, we take charge over our fears, and we rise above the very storm that tries to hide our shine. We are pioneers, we are warriors and above all we are champions.
Setbacks are just ditches in the road, so catch your breath for a minute, dust yourself, pull yourself together, the journey is still long ahead. Devour the distance with confidence, for your dream awaits you.
